Walter Jackson Elementary School received a grant through Alabama's Mountains, Rivers, and Valleys RC&D Council during the 2024-25 school year. AMRV provided $6500 for new library furniture and features to our Outdoor Classroom. Beautiful and functional tables and chairs were added to the library to make working with STEM materials easier. The new tables with wheels and molded plastic chairs also make event hosting and set-up more convenient. For the Outdoor Classroom, a new AI-powered Webcam bird feeder was added to help students enjoy nature even if they are inside a classroom. The AI helps to identify birds that visit the feeder. New native plants were also added and five metal garden beds have been purchased. Within our House system, each House will adopt and tend a garden.
Thank you again, AMRV for providing these funds to help make our school a wonderful place to learn both indoors and outdoors!
